We welcome iconic editor Thelma Schoonmaker to The Cameo to deliver an extended intro to Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's 1945 romantic masterpiece. En-route to a remote island off the Scottish coast to marry a rich older man, headstrong Joan (Wendy Hiller) finds herself stranded on the Isle of Mull where she meets naval officer Torquil (Roger Livesey). Characteristically idiosyncratic and unpredictable, this extraordinary film is at once light and moving, funny and deeply serious in its exploration of love, history and the secrets buried in the remotest landscapes.
