How much are tickets?

This ticketing applies to most of our screenings across the Cameo, Inspace, Summerhall and 50 George Square.

Spotlight tickets

  • Standard: £14
  • Concession: £11
  • Essential Companion: Free

Our Spotlight tickets are available for Opening and Closing Night, and also for screenings at the Cameo, where there may be introductions or Q&As with actors and directors who are in attendance.

Pay what you can tickets are also available across our screenings at £6 and £3.

What are your concessions?

EH postcode area residents are included in concessions, giving you even more opportunity to experience cinema on your doorstep.

Our concessions also support: arts workers, filmmakers and EIFF Industry and Press passholders, D/deaf and Disabled people, people in receipt of benefits, students, under 18s. 

Proof of concession may be requested for films which have a guided age rating/BBFC certificate of 15 or 18. We list content warnings (CW) in this guide and online.

Do you offer any discounts?

Discounts may be available on selected screenings – sign up to our newsletter to be among the first to know about any offers.

We offer 10% off when booking 10 tickets to one film screening. 

Friend of the Fringe 2For1 offers do not apply to tickets at Edinburgh International Film Festival.

We cannot apply discounts across multiple transactions.

Do you offer free tickets?

We have free tickets available for selected screenings through EdFringe’s Community Ticketing Initiative (CTI).

This supports people in and around Edinburgh who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend, with tickets distributed through social, family or youth workers in the City of Edinburgh Council or through local community organisations and charities.

Do you offer enhanced access screenings and tickets?

In this guide, enhanced screenings are labelled by:

  • Hard of Hearing (HOH) Subtitled Films
  • Audio Descrived (AD)
  • Relaxed Screenings (RS)

For screenings or events with British Sign Language (BSL), please check our website. 

The EdFringe Box Office has staff in place specifically for access enquiries and ticket bookings. This service exists to assist anyone with an access requirement to make the most of what Edinburgh International Film Festival and EdFringe has to offer.

The access tickets service is available to anyone who:

  • Would like to book specific accessibility services, eg a hearing loop, or seating in relation to the location of a BSL interpreter.
  • Requires specific accessibility information for each venue.
  • Requires extra assistance when at a venue, including avoiding waiting in queues and busy environments.
  • Has specific seating requirements.
  • Is a wheelchair user.
  • Requires a complimentary personal assistant ticket to attend a performance.

Are there trailers before the films?

There are no trailers, but our films usually have an introduction, so we advise getting to our screenings on time.

Why is there a fee when I book?

A £1.25 booking fee will automatically be applied for each ticket you book*, up to a maximum of £5 per transaction. 

When booking through us, this supports the charitable activities of Edinburgh International Film Festival. When booking through EdFringe, this supports Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society and helps EdFringe to support the artists, venues and creatives that make the festival happen each year.

*This does not apply to in-person bookings made at Assembly Festival Box Offices. 

How will I get my tickets?

All Edinburgh International Film Festival tickets are e-ticketed through our online box office, and through our partners at EdFringe and Assembly Festival, so there’s no need to collect physical tickets. 

You’ll receive an e-ticket via email containing a QR code. If you’ve booked for a number of films/events in one transaction, they will show in this QR code, so please look after it.

If you’ve bought via EdFringe, you will find options to download your e-ticket to Apple and Google Wallet in your e-ticket.You can show this QR code when you line up to enter our screenings.

What if I can’t use e-tickets?

If you don’t have access to a mobile device / email / printer, or if e-ticketing presents another access issue for you, please get in touch with us at info@edfilmfest.org if booking through or website, or find details for customer services at EdFringe and Assembly Festival on the next page.
